Encore Performing Arts ‘The History Boys’ Two Performances Sept 29 & 30

An unruly bunch of bright sixth-form (senior boys) in a Northern Grammar school have found themselves with an excellent set of A-Level results and are set for places at Oxford and Cambridge to study History – if their headmaster can gather a team to apply the right ‘polish’ that is.

The boys, although concerned about their university prospects, are also focused on sports, sex, and enjoying themselves.

In all their efforts they are helped and hindered, enlightened and bemused, by their teachers and in particular a young maverick teacher who encourages the boys to approach History as a game. He questions the methods, as well as the aim of their schooling, and leads the boys to question themselves as well.
